Your Love Is King

I was watching Kill Bill: Vol. 2 tonight and the main antagonist, Bill said something very interesting about people and identity. Here's what he said:

"Now, the staple of the superhero mythology is; there is the superhero and there is the alter ego. Batman is actually Bruce Wayne, Spiderman is actually Peter Parker; when that character wakes up in the morning, he's Peter Parker. He has to put on a costume to become Spiderman and it is in that characteristic, Superman stands alone. Superman didn't become Superman, Superman was born Superman. When superman wakes up in the morning, he's Superman. His alter ego is Clark Kent. His outfit with the big red “S”; that's the blanket he was wrapped in as a baby when the Kents found him. Those are his clothes. What Kent wears; the glasses, the business suit, that's the costume; that’s the costume that Superman wears to blend in with us. Clark Kent is how Superman views us, and what are the characteristics of Clark Kent; he’s weak, he’s unsure of himself, he’s a coward. Clark Kent is Superman’s critique on the whole human race."

I find that interesting because I think people do hide a lot of their positive aspects. For whatever reason, people hide their intelligence, athleticism, kindness, etc. just to fit in. I just don't think we were made to fit in. If that was the case, we would all have the same talents or none at all.

Despicable Me

I have a question. How come all of a sudden on Facebook, people are giving themselves fake names? I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure people's middle names are not things such as, "bigdog" "minaj" "harajuku" or "bossman". I digress. I don't know why but I'm becoming quite fond of these things:

Yes, crew neck sweatshirts are the business. Yes, I have my school's version of it. Yes, it is that cool in real life.

Guess Who's Back Up In the Building?

I need to go vintage on this one:

Astro Boy was one of the longest running and original superhero cartoons. It came from Japan, but Americans loved it. It started out in black and white which lets you know how old it is. Let's just say all your human acting robot shows and games came from this show. Ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-check it out.
